American elementary schools, do you learn Chinese?

1. American primary school curriculum: English Languages Arts (ELA), Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Arts and Humanities, Physical Education, That is, PE), Health and Safety Education, Second Language and Tools for Learning. In fact, these major courses are basically offered in all primary schools. The main difference is that different schools have made different subdivisions of these major courses, or have different emphasis on subdivided subjects and different class schedules. The above-mentioned courses 1-7 are usually offered in all grades of K-5. With the change of grade, the curriculum will be adjusted. Religious schools will also offer some religious courses. Usually, American primary school students usually spend 7 hours in school every day, and generally have to guarantee 6 hours of teaching time every day. As we all know, in China, teachers and parents pay special attention to the study of main courses, such as Chinese, mathematics and now English, but they don’t pay enough attention to other subjects. In American primary schools, English, mathematics, science and social studies can be regarded as the main courses from the point of view of the number of class hours, because the class hours are the most, and they are also compulsory courses and assessment subjects of all schools. I think there are two things that the United States is most worth learning from: First, the curriculum, especially the two courses of science and social studies, attaches great importance to it. The second is teaching methods, mainly interactive learning. 2. American middle school courses generally include compulsory courses: English (first, because of some students’ language problems, English classes are also divided into general English classes and ESL (English as Second Language) mathematics (in American middle schools, the progress of mathematics classes will fall behind that of China, and it will be much easier to learn mathematics), social communication (learning some customs and traditions of various countries), physical education (which American students have every day) and elective courses: art and music. The first class of students every day is called cycle, which is changed every two months, including computer cycle, health cycle and art cycle. Foreign language courses include Spanish: Spanish 1 Pt 1/Spanish Cont, French: French 1 Pt 1/French Cont, German: German 1 Pt 1, Italian: Italian 1pt1.1 Latin course: Latin. Elective courses are determined according to students’ preferences, and so are foreign language courses. In the last few months of each semester, the school will ask students to fill out a form and let them choose the courses they want to go to.
