How to learn Chinese syllables
Syllables are the smallest structural units in pronunciation, and they are also the smallest phonetic units that people can naturally perceive. In Mandarin Chinese, the pronunciation of a Chinese character is generally a syllable. For example, “children” is written in three Chinese characters, and it reads in three syllables “xi m: o p é ng y ǒ u”. Chinese syllables generally include initials, finals and tones.
(a) according to the different components of syllables, commonly used syllables are generally divided into the following four categories:
1. The two pinyin stanzas are syllables composed of initials and finals, such as: dad bà, hand shǒu u.
2. Sanyinjie is a syllable composed of initials, initials and finals, such as Guanggu ā ng and Quanqu á n.
3, the overall recognition of syllables is to remember syllables as a whole, without spelling, that is, syllables that can be read in one breath. The whole recognized syllable is an inseparable whole, which can be directly used to phonetic Chinese characters. Such as: only zhǐ, four sǐ, five w ǐ.
4. Self-contained syllables Some syllables have no initials, but the vowels are independently used as syllables to directly phonetic Chinese characters. This kind of syllable is called self-contained syllables. In Chinese Pinyin in primary schools, only the vowels that start with ι, o and e can form syllables independently without writing the initials, such as A ā, Ai ài, Ao Ɣ o, An ān, Oh Ɣ, Ou İ u, Goose é, etc.
When syllables beginning with ι, o and e are connected behind other syllables, if the boundaries of syllables are confused, they should be separated by sound insulation symbols (‘), for example, “Pi’m Ɩ o fur coat”, otherwise they will be confused with “Pi m Ɩ o corner”.
What needs special explanation is that if syllables without Chinese characters are combined in Putonghua, students are encouraged to spell them correctly. For example, “do, so” is the pronunciation of “1, 5” in music, and “ruɑ” is the pronunciation of Sichuan dialect, which lays a good foundation for children to learn other languages.

There is also a vowel er, and there is no initial to spell with it.
The word order is used to look up the dictionary by syllable lookup method. The first letter at the beginning of each syllable is in the order of 26 letters. For example,
