How to write Chinese characters correctly

Different from other languages, Chinese characters have their own characteristics in culture, origin and writing. As an ideographic character, the word formation of Chinese characters has certain regularity. In Chinese writing learning, we can learn step by step from four aspects: strokes, stroke order, parts and shelf structure according to three levels: strokes, parts and whole words.

1. Stroke: It is the smallest unit of modern Chinese characters and the basis of learning to write. Requirements: Master the basic strokes of Chinese characters. Requirements can say the name, can write.

2. Stroke order: refers to the trend of Chinese strokes and writing rules. Correct stroke order is not only the basic accomplishment of writing Chinese characters, but also the words written in a fixed stroke order are more conducive to memory and faster writing.

3. Component: refers to the word-building unit composed of strokes with the function of combining Chinese characters. The radicals, radicals and single characters that make up a Chinese character are all components. Because the components that make up commonly used Chinese characters have a high appellation, it is helpful to memorize Chinese characters. When foreign students understand the meaning of some radicals, they can understand some words with the same radicals according to their glyphs, which is the key to reading and writing. It is also the focus of learning Chinese characters in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

4. Shelf structure: refers to the structure of Chinese characters, the way parts are manipulated and the law of combination. Most numbers often revolve around a word-building component and are arranged and combined with other components in different ways, thus forming a word with related meaning. International Chinese teachers must pay attention to the principles of Chinese characters’ configuration in teaching, such as up-and-down structure, left-and-right structure and various enclosing structures.
